How I Spent My Friday Night

It's not really a weekend until you have to call the hospitals to find out where your honey is...

At least in your case he usually is working rather then needing to be seen at the hospital. Right?

At the hospital but not working. Yes, I'd be worried. Not able to text a message is understandable if it's a cell phone free zone but still...

Oh, no, it wasn't that he was actually in the hospital - I just called to see if he was, as he was too busy being passed out drunk at a friend's house and no one bothered to tell me.

My ex did this to me when he first relocated here from Chicago. He forgot that we had made dinner plans and went to a party with people from his new job, then passed out on the host's kitchen floor (if I remember his account correctly). This was back before the great unwashed, like myself, commonly had cell phones. I waited outside his building for an hour - got very angry - went for a drink and to use a pay phone - went back - waited - got worried - went and had another drink - called - went back - started to panic - went home - really panicked - called hospitals - gave up and went to bed. He called me the next morning apologetic and viciously hungover.

I got the apologetic part, but he was not nearly hung over enough. :)

Well-deserved stinkeye! I can put up with just about anything as long as I am not surprised.

Let's put it this way - if dear, wonderful Andy (who, I'm sure, would NEVER do this to you, of course) went out drinking with friends and was supposed to join you at home once he was done, and you texted him but didn't hear back, then you called and left him a message when you were going to sleep, then suddenly woke up in the early light of day to discover he wasn't back yet... what would YOU do?

Ok, an option for the future. Get him a smartphone and install one of several similar apps that is useful for finding a lost phone. Once it's installed you send the phone a text command that causes the app to text back it's gps location. That way you can check a map and know he is not in a hospital.

Technology will not solve this problem, alas; furthermore, I won't enable him. Instead, he needs to understand how his actions affect me. Next time (as if there will BE a next time), he will need to get whoever is sober and driving to call me if he can't make it home.

Either way, STINK EYE GALORE. :)

Hee! We always say goodnight via phone wherever we are (helpful when he's working night shift), but there have been times where he was out somewhere and didn't hear his phone, or the battery died - I'm willing to accept reasonable excuses. Waking up at 8:00 a.m. and having no honey next to me with no communication whatsoever, not so much... :)

I didn't mean to offend, I just wanted to know what the issue was. :)

Actually, that did happen once. I didn't get to the "call the hospitals" phase though, because in the morning when I called his phone he answered and told me what had happened. I totally understand how you felt in the morning though! Overall "sleeping at friend's" is preferable to "driving home drunk and tired" so I had to give him a pass, but yeah, we chatted...

No offense taken - just trying to put it in to perspective for ya, 'cause that's basically what happened. :) Never thought I'd panic to the point of not only calling hospitals, but trying to figure out how to talk to the police was certainly a blood pressure raiser. Fortunatley he chose just that moment to wake the hell up and text me. :D

The paperwork would just take way too long... and have to be filled out in triplicate.
