Hello? Is this thing on?

The silence from LJ is deafening. How can they ignore 5 days' worth of replies that max out at 10,000, all of them overwhelmingly negative? This is bigger than Strikethrough 2007 or any of the myriad other dramas LJ has had. I have to say, I'm really, really disappointed, and wish I were just a little more surprised. *sigh*

Yes, Mike, that's already been pointed out a myriad of times. My point is, why make it EASY to do so? A handy-dandy little clicky button is just BEGGING for trouble. If they'd actually asked their paying customer base, I think they'd have found this was a huge "do not want," or at the very least a "need to be able to opt out." Given all the fuckups in the past, it shocks me they so still so blindly move forward with stuff like this (and no doubt the exodus to Dreamwidth is substantial, even if it's not every single person that said they would).

It really doesn't matter if it's an actual breach of privacy, it's a matter of perception - as I said, if you're going to build a community of trustworthiness, LJ has repeatedly shown how *not* to foster that with their membership.

Of course, I further question the point of posting comments without the context of the OP anyway. WTF is up with that? It would be half a conversation. Makes no sense to me...
