Huh?

When did LJ go from "previous 20" to "previous 10?"

They just changed it -- I got a news post right after this one which included that. It's to cut down on load times, but the announcement includes the link to where to fix it. I've had mine set to 50 forever, because I prefer fewer loads, even if the loads take a bit longer. But I also use an old-school custom S1 style, because I don't really like the fancy prebuilt S2 styles, and don't have the time to figure out how to re-create my current style in the current system.

No, just the one. I don't have it set up to email them, though; I just see the posted copy, and I haven't been seeing duplicates. Maybe they're making minor edits?

I just got that update. I understand their rationale, but it might have been nice to tell people *before* they did it.

I think I switched to S2, but I'm using the default layout, which I like 'cause it's clean and simple. I went ahead and changed my setting to 50 entries as well, though, 'cause I'm with you - I'd rather a longer page to look at all at once.

I suspect the change and the post may have been near-simultaneous. I think you'd be right if LJ were entirely or almost entirely made of rational people with good reading comprehension, but I suspect that if they posted it enough ahead of time for a significant number of people to see it, they would be slammed with a flood of "It's not working for meeee!" whines from people who don't notice the "coming soon".
