Yeah, I've been trying to get people to use the § mark (Alt + 0167) and it's met with some success, so I don't really see a need for this new punctuation mark.

Beside, it sounds like you have to install something in order to use this new punctuation mark. There is no need to install anything for §.

I think nolly brought up a good point on Facebook - the section sign is a pre-existing, and well-used, piece of punctuation. What say you, O Usurper of Sections? :P

My response would be: When is the last time you saw the § mark being used in comments on a social networking site (other than as a sarcasm punctuation mark)?

Never, but that's not really the point. You're just mad 'cause somebody came up with something original that might drown out your purported fame! Plus, the French beat you to it 100 years ago. :P

Oh but it is the point! I usurped an easily typed symbol that is never used in the social networking world and made it symbolize sarcasm. :)

I would consider using the backwards question postulated 100 years ago, but no Unicode for it, it seems.

It is very awesome that you usurped such a long lost lonely symbol from antiquity

ok, got it to work. watched the video.

Nay, nay, nay a thousand times nay. If you can not convey sarcasm by your word choice then putting a punctuation to denote it is full of fail. It would be as badly misused as the question mark and the poor, stressed out exclamation mark.

Plus it looks dorky in a very un-sexy way.

§ < if I can remember the code maybe I'll use that.. but I don't think it will catch on with me.

For §, it does takes a little while to memorize the keystroke, but I have it fully ingrained in my head now. I wonder if that means I'm just generally a very sarcastic person....§

It's a proposed new punctuation mark to indicate sarcasm. It looks like an "@" with a period in the center.

Nay...and WTF?
I was hoping the site itself would be sarcastic, but not so much...

...unless asking you to shell out $2 for an emoticon counts.
