Thanksgiving? What's that?

I heard my first Christmas song on the drive home on Saturday ("The Most Wonderful Time of the Year"). On the one hand, I do love Christmas. On the other, it's not even Thanksgiving yet. BAH.

I have seen decorated trees in home windows and wreaths already. And heard my first carol last week. If someone would record some damn Thanksgiving carols maybe they would play them instead and we could postpone the Christmas stuff till say, like, Christmas season?

Jingle Bells was actually written for Thanksgiving.

Anything for Thanksgiving I think about church hymns, which are about the only specific Thanksgiving-themed music I think I ever heard.

I've seen wreaths as well. It's barely even winter - take those evergreens down! :)

on this side of the world, we play it as early as September. We call it the "ber" months, September, October, November and December. Right after All Saints Day, which is Nov 1, it is all out Christmas everywhere.

Oh, I've seen stuff go up in AUGUST. It's ridiculous, but it's also economics - most stores are made or broken by their Christmas sales.

It's always a stand-off at our house. Rob is addicted to Christmas music and I can hardly bear it, so there is a moritorium on it until the day after Thanksgiving. Which never seems to hold up, more's the pity.

I actually enjoy driving home from Thanksgiving dinner and hearing the radio stations starting to play them. Most of them in Philly waited until 6:00 p.m. on Thanksgiving day to start, though; there's one station here in DC that goes all Christmas, all the time, and they're the ones that have already started.

And...he picked me up for lunch and there was Christmas music playing in the car. Ah well, it is his car...

But it was the South Park album, so I happily acquiesced.

Disneyland started on Nov. 13, so that's good enough for me. :)

In a way you guys are lucky for the late Thanksgiving. Christmas season in Canada starts the day after Halloween.

Oh, I've seen Christmas stuff up as early as AUGUST, and lately it's started to creep into the end of October. I really wish they *would* wait until Thanksgiving - that's how it *used* to be.
