Go Team O!

So Obama got the Nobel Peace Prize, eh? Wow. I applaud them for encouraging a change in global affairs, and for recognizing Obama's efforts to change America's role internationally from the mess his predecessor created in that arena. Still, it *does* seem a bit premature, and it puts undue pressure on him to live up to that kind of ideal, but I'm hearing it isn't unprecedented.

Interesting times...

I would have to agree -- he's made a lot of promises, but there hasn't been enough real progress yet.

Still, it's not necessarily based on concrete objectives - it's quite different from the other prizes:

A nice summation. :)

Well, now that he's won a prize, let's see him do something to have earned it beyond making intelligent speeches.

He can't get props for cleaning up the republicans' mess when he has yet to really start. Blah.

Yeah, I saw that later. When you take an international view instead of the domestic one, then yeah, I'd say he's overwhelmingly earned it.

I really, really hope what he's doing makes things better. If nothing else, at least our allies aren't embarrassed to be our allies anymore. :)

I agree its premature, but also that there is potential. I'm still "cautiously optimistic" about Obama, at least he isn't/won't be as bad as McCain/Bush43/Clinton/Bush41 is/were.

I'm learning more and more the prize can be as much about potential and efforts as it can be about concrete results, so, like you, I'm optimistic (although probably moreso than most).

As a counterpoint, Michael Corleone "intended" to disassociate himself from the family business.

Both have/had efforts under their belts, even if those efforts haven't borne fruit quite yet.
