Of wine and cheese

After talking about it this morning with my co-worker, I sooooooo want fondue now. We also figured out what I did wrong when I did it for my birthday a while back - no wine. Duh. (Of course it didn't help that my plebian friends didn't "get" fondue, so after an hour they all wanted to order pizza. PLEBIANS. I think that's where the wine would have helped.)

Instead, I'm having cookies for breakfast.

Oh, and best laid plans - I was supposed to take the day off so Q and I could go to Annapolis to take care of some stuff, but it turns out he only needed to go to Leonardtown, so I came in to work and will go up sometime later this week on my own. Also thinking of taking next Friday off to do some work up at Mom's before we she gets back from Florida the next day.

I used to do fondue parties with my friends down in San Antonio. I have about four fondue pots, so I could set up several cheeses and a chocolate. They always worked well. :)

I have two, and for my birthday we did a cheese course, then an oil and broth course, then the chocolate course. it was delish!

They didn't get (or at least appreciate in the way I do) the social aspect of the meal. If you're going to sit around and cook each piece of food individually, it's going to take time, so you chat and enjoy yourself (hence probably needing more wine). Alas, they were a hasty bunch and decided they needed more food sooner. In the end my exasperated protestations won out, so we dumped the rest of the chicken and beef into the oil and the veggies into the broth and it didn't take long before they were sated.

PLEBIANS.

So when we get there, it'll be you, me, Quincy, Chris, and cheese, cheese, cheese. :)

When a few folks came out last year for a con, six of us went to The Melting Pot for dinner. Yes, it's TOTALLY about taking your time and enjoying! I'm glad my group understood that!

Oh, and it's about cheese and chocolate too. :)

Next time I hit G'con I'm going to find the local fondue place, 'cause this sounds like fun. :)

so was that wine in the cheese sauce or to keep the plebians happy?

with my alcohol allergy i have found that just cider or juices can work well. or vinegar if used in small amounts with the juices

Wine to keep them happy, although there was wine in the cheese as well.

Clearly you just didn't invite the right friends. I think Fondue is a fabulously fun meal.
