Victor Borge is still one of the funniest musical comedians of all time. Weird Al, P.D.Q. Bach, Anna Russell, Tom Lehrer - I love them all, but Victor will always hold a special place in my heart. I think it's because he reminds me so much of my dad. :) I really need to get some of his performances on DVD.

Thanks for reminding me of him. I used to love his appearances on tv when I was a kid.

Rita Rudner hosted a special they've been re-airing on our local PBS for their membership drive, and I'm sitting here cackling at his pranks and pratfalls, and marveling at his virtuosic performances.

I watched this when I was visiting my mom a couple months ago and her PBS station was doing their membership drive. He's still hilarious. Even though I knew it was coming, I DIED when he pulled the seatbelt out of the piano bench.

The expression on his face when the leaves started falling was so priceless. I don't know how anyone could have worked with him with a straight face (especially that soprano!).

I've heard of him. Didn't he write a penis song? :)

He wrote a lot of songs, was openly gay in the 40's & 50's, and was a big personality back then. Sadly he has passed on. My favorite song of his is "I've been to a Marvelous Party"

Oh, darling, you didn't really think I didn't know who Noel Coward was, did you? I was referring to Monty Python's "The Penis Song (Not the Noël Coward Song)." Silly. :P

I have one of his concerts on VHS around here somewhere...

And I wanted to invite Tom Lehrer to be a GoH at Polaris last year but got overruled. :(

When Westercon '06 was looking at hotels, the Indian casinos inland said they could book a performer that would be of interest to the con, and when Weird Al was jokingly suggested, they started quoting prices! :O
