11th Doctor

Ugly, too young, far too short of an acting resume, screams "ZOMG FANGIRLS ATTACK!"

Do not want, but will wait to see.

Well, I don't think he's ugly. Quite the opposite actually. I think he's pretty cute. Though he could change his hair and I'd be pretty happy. All the other stuff though... Kinda right on. I'm trying to withold judgement.

OMG I so agree with you but if the doctor is near the end of his regenerations then, since this is the 11th doctor, he needs a bit more maturity then this sod. I saw a pic and was like who was this kid.. But as stated I'll have to see what he can do..

Well I didn't expect him to be William Hartnell old, but something older than 12 would have bee nice...

True but otherwise noted that each doctor has been getting younger. I was also thinking what happens with regenerations that they have to regen back to a certain age? Do as they get closer to there 12th do they go younger in there regens???

Eh... I have a fair amount of faith in Moffat; the casting in everything else I've seen him do has been fantastic. I'm guessing that he's a good fit for whatever Moffat has planned for the series.

If this is a good fit, I'm cringing to think what he's planning for the series. Bleeeeeeeech.

That's an awfully harsh judgment to make about someone you've never seen perform.

I would suggest you go back and watch the episodes written by Moffat. They've consistently been the most inventive and tightly written material in each series.

I'm personally itching to see what Moffat will do with the series; his episodes have been the real shining gems every season so far and if he stays true to form, the next season is going to be amazing.

BTW, remember that it's only been Tennant and Davison who really broke from the "weird-looking Doctor" mold...

I was (thankfully) so wrong about Catherine Tate that I'm reserving judgment on this one until I see what he can do...

Oh, now, see, I LOVED Tate from the start - headstrong, powerful, had good acting chops, and for once wasn't some waif of a Christine to the Doctor's Raoul (as much as I liked Martha, there were moments...). I'm just hoping they aren't listening to the squeeing fangirls and would just go back to concentrating on good stories, deep characterizations, and fun dashing about killing Daleks and such - no hanky-panky in the TARDIS! :)

I'd only ever seen Tate in her comedy sketches, so I wasn't sure how she'd work out -- but she turned out to be wonderful. I agree with you on the hanky-panky; they skirted way too close to that with Rose for my comfort (though it turned out properly heartbreaking) but it could cross the line into Teen Angst Drama pretty easily.

Properly heartbreaking, yes, but it sort of cast a pall on poor Martha having to "take her place." I certainly preferred Martha, her being intelligent and capable in her own right, but even she skirted a little too close for me (I actually like her more that she's with UNIT). Donna was perfect - no attraction whatsoever, but so much wonderful tension and sparring! Love her for it!

i'm bummed about this choice; i just would have been more "comforted" by someone who had a solid acting resume so we could already get a sense of what that doctor could be like...

plus david tennant really make a nice transition from somber eccleston to quirky tennant... i've just moved on to the third series and am seriously missing rose tyler

BLEEEEEEECH! I'm so happy they got rid of Rose - I loved the character, but not the whole doe-eyed, fangirl, "we must never act on our unrequited love" bullshit. GAH! NO HANKY PANKY IN THE TARDIS!
