The best Christmas party we never attended

Left work on time, got home, got changed, printed out directions, wrapped gifts, killed battery in car, got in the truck, stopped for gas, hit the road, engine cut out, pulled over, stressed out, took deep breaths, called AAA, called host with regrets, towed to mechanic, left note, ran to bathroom, walked to restaurant, ate dinner, had drinks, walked to supermarket, bought eggs, called cab, rode home, changed into jammies, hugged kitties, posted on LJ.

at least nothing major happened like breaking down in traffic that then hit you or anything. i mean yeah car failure sucks. critical car failure on a highway ending in a totaled car sucks more

I was in the left lane when I suddenly noticed the engine had cut out. Still had power and such, and just filled the tank, but I still had to pull all the way over to the right. Cost me $500 for a new fuel pump.

but still no traffic pile up. no injuries. no crashes. I have seen that before and in one case have been in it. i know the money is tight for everyone and that 500 is no drop in a bucket. hell that is almost my entire monthly check. but all i was saying is no one got hurt and it would also seem you were not stranded for a long time on a highway in bad weather or anything so it could have been much worse. a few winters ago Kyr and I got stuck on Highway i-90 for Hours and Hours in a bad storm where there was a 36 vehicle pile up ahead of us. and the closest off ramp was blocked with a jack knifed semi. Luckily we are the kind that can keep ourselves amused so we built snow men and had a snow ball fight and listened to truck drivers on the CB and stuff.

i did not realize a st. andrews cross could fit comfortably in a small truck. but i suppose you could have a folding one.

Oh he doesn't need silly implements to torture me - his mere existence drives me insane.
