WOW

WONDERFUL speech. BRILLIANT. Quick thoughts:

  • I heard JFK, MLK and Clinton in that voice. He has a preacher's cadence. Very presidential.

  • Notice the diversity of the crowd? Not so much in Arizona.

  • He mentioned gays! (OK, it's kind of sad that just the mention is exciting, but it's still exciting!)

  • He mentioned Q! (Well, first-time voters...)

  • He quoted Lincoln. Good god, could anything have been more appropriate? Just beautiful.

  • I love Joe Biden. Just sayin'.

  • The Secret Service is going to have their work cut out for them for the next 4-8 years. Oy.

  • OK, Democrats - we won the House, Senate and the Big Chair. DON'T GET COCKY. Please. Let's remain calm and rational

All in all, I couldn't be happier.

I know! I thought that was a very cute line.

Heh, I noticed that preacher's cadence as well. MLK had the same delivery tone in his voice.

I so heard his echoes in that speech, and rightfully so. I still like Bill Clinton slightly more as a speaker, but I'd definitely say we're finally over the smarmy smirk and Shatner delivery of the Bush era.

Why hasn't Q voted before? Has he been a bad boy?

Bad in the sense of never having gotten off his duff and registered before, although granted he's spent much of his life abroad.

You should spank him for each election his missed. Or if he'd enjoy that, find a suitable alternative punishment.

No, "preacher" in the voice is NOT presidential.

I want an orator without pulpit cadences. Is that too much to ask?

I don't mind the delivery as long as the content is religion-free. Good oration skills apply to preachers as well as politicians.

Seriously, the Democrats have to step carefully, or we're going to get a repeat of 1994.

I have to admit, I was sceptical. I figured, "Well, he probably won't do anything, but that's a helluvalot better than what the Republicans would do."

But today he promised to close Guantanamo. That impressed me. It's after the election, so he doesn't have to make any promises he doesn't intend to keep.

I'm also impressed he's jumping right into the transition. I'm also hearing a lot of people say that if he's smart, he'll name his Treasury secretary quickly, to give people some sense of stability.
