Um, whoops?

My second-oldest nephew, Michael, just got academically dismissed from Drexel. I guess he skated through his senior year of high school, but has now discovered the rink has closed, burned down and been rebuilt as a strip mall. Hopefully I can give him some insight as I, too, once did fairly poorly at the same school. THE CIRCLE MUST BE BROKEN.

I hate it when a plan doesn't come together....

Whoops is right :)

The kid's been talking about being a rollercoaster designer since he was 6, but, being a little too smart for his own good, he did the minimum, which isn't nearly enough for an engineering school like Drexel. Evidently getting put on academic probation last semester wasn't the wake-up call he needed.

That's ok. His kindly uncle will call and see how he's doing and help him understand what his options are so he can make well-informed choices, and understand the consequences thereof. I'm cool like that. :)

For the record, since I work there and all - It's Not My Fault!

He's a freshling, so I'm sure it's not. Besides, if I blamed you, I'd have to blame you for *me* failing my last semester there as well. ;)

Since I work in Academic Services now, I'm in a good position to tell him all this, and more. My sister and I had a good talk, and now I need to tell him the same stuff. I think in the long run he'll be fine, but no more ultimate frisbee for him!
