WTF is wrong with screencaps?

OK, this is weird. Up until now I've been able to do a screenshot while a movie was playing on RealPlayer or Quicktime or what have you, and then I could paste it into a graphics program (I usually just use Paint) and save it as a static screenshot. Now all of a sudden I paste, and the image inside the player isn't static - it moves around, and saves as a black screen! WTF? Is this some kind of new copy protection or what?

Edited to add: OK, I got around it by changing the video acceleration settings, but that was just weird.

Actually, it is copy protection -- I may have a more up-to-date version of Windows than the one you've been using, but I remembered that when I got the current one installed, that was the end of screen-capping for me :/

I was told that if you adjust your video acceleration settings to medium instead of full it'll work again, and it worked for me, so give it a try. I love my screen caps! How else can I make slash from Storm Hawks? :)

Haven't had a chance to check -- I was just thanking you for the advice.

Have you tried making screen-caps with VLC media player? I took over 500 screen-caps from Storm Hawks ep Absolute Powere and that was only from the parts that featured the raptors
