This is Halloween?

OK, as far as I can tell after taking a quick look around the development, I'm the only house out of 35 that is giving out candy. Two other houses have a single Halloween decoration, and I've got pumpkin lights, ghost lights, skeleton lights, scary shadows in the windows, candles, a spider on the door and Bach organ cantatas playing out the window ("O Mensch, bewein' dein' Sünde gross" is playing at the moment). I've had about 10 or so groups of anywhere from 3 to 10 (all of which ooh'd and aah'd over the house), which is admittedly more than last year, but still - it's 9:00 and I haven't had anyone come in over an hour.

LAME-O.

Still, HAPPY HALLOWEEN! :D

I think the only ones I got were the ones in the development, as I recognized a few of them. But we're around the corner and at the end of a dead end, so I figure that might stop them, but still - all the other 7 buildings between the street and here are completely dark. Not much incentive to go questing all the way down to us, I guess. The music is loud, so hopefully you can hear it from a ways away to lure them in. :D

I thought that was the point of Halloween anyway - the leftovers! :D

Trick-or-treaters in our area start early and seem to finish up early too. I turned things off here around 8:30p since the only people left on the street were those out walking their dogs.

Your decorations sound fabulous though! Happy Halloween to you too!

We rarely get kiddies in our neighborhood, and hardly any houses give out candy anyway. We always decorate, but I did only one string of lights this year.
We got 17 kids, but things were dried up by 7:45. I left half a bag of candy on the front porch for any stragglers.

Oh I never thought to leave candy out. I went through 2 medium bowls (I was generous), but that third and final is taunting me. :D

It's almost 8 and I've had three kids and one Mom (or maybe big sister, hard to tell). But hey, that's 4 more trick or treaters than I've had since I moved to CA so I'm really not going to complain. Much. Still, this isn't my holiday. I've had a Jonesing for Christmas since April this year for some reason, and if stores and Disneyland can kick off the season after today, then I will too. :)

I didn't decorate until Sunday, but I'm looking forward to Christmas. Hee! I'd love to come out to DL in December, but we'll see...

If so, let me know as far in advance as possible. A mutual friend of ours may be able to make some arrangements......

I doubt it'll happen - we're poor. :( Besides, Quincy wanted to go to the Philippines, and if that ain't happening, Disneyland ain't happening.

This is our first Halloween in the new house and we were under prepared. We didn't do any decorations to lure them in, but we had 104 by 7:15 and had to turn off the light because we were out of candy! The most we'd ever had at our old place (same city) was about 35.

And these were the good kinds of kids all 10 and younger, dressed up with their parents etc, not teens without costumes. We'll be better prepared next year!

We had 20 at the most, and that might be a generous count on my part. It's very sad, Halloween just isn't what it used to be. We didn't even get the teens from the church coming by to collect food, like they said they would. I was bummed.

Damn kids! I remember when I was a kid - plastic tablecloth printed vinyl costumes with that unfinished plastic mask and a paper bag for candy. I also remember when the "razor blades in the candy bars" was all the rage and they started x-raying candy at the school - good times, good times...

Better than here in SD. While gaming last night, M had only 1 group of kids come to the door.

Last night my daughter went trick or treating (in London) and, as expected, most people didn't answer, but, apparently, several people actually called her and her friend over because they wanted to join in with trick or treating from the other side. (I was working, so her friend's Mum took them). Halloween is dying out. :( (Which seems an odd phrase to use!)

Still, at least the kids called to do it together. That's something.
