Good day/bad day

My LARGE folder of pictures of hot Asian men seems to have mysteriously disappeared off my hard drive. I've been working on it for YEARS. Not happy.

On the plus side, I rediscovered the joy of hummus.

I think the plus, in this case, does not make up for the minus. Here's hoping these file recovery tools actually work. *sigh*

This is why one backs up files. Porn loss is a tragedy.

I've been working on a backup system for both me and Q, mostly for his artwork. Fortunately I do have *some* of them saved elsewhere, but still... *sigh*

And now it's looking like they weren't erased, just moved. But to where? I'm at a loss.

How? I assumed defragging was all about cleaning up space and rearranging files. I would think that would be the *worst* thing I could do.

Defragging is the absolute WORST thing you can do when you want to recover files. Do not install anything to the drive the files disapeared from. It needs to be scanned from another system if the files were somehow deleted. If they just got moved, a simple search for *.jpg (assuming jpg files) will turn up where they went.

Looking on the bright side... just think of all the fun you can have replacing the pictures - and all the new ones you'll find along the way!

well, if you can remember the name of one of the pictures, you can probably search for the file name and find where it decided to hide.

Some good news - a lot of the ones I'd collected on my laptop are still there, but there's still a huge chunk missing. Time to go spelunking on asianboypics. :D

I'm working on either a backup system for the two of us (I'd hate to lose his artwork, too), or at least running a good backup-to-CD-ROM program from time to time.

i had backup hard drives and was trying to get the drivers for my DVD burner and of course the backup drive went and when i returned from Pennsic and had the drivers installed the computer started losing data randomly everytime it was turned off and back on so not only could i not back up things cause they disappeared but the internet service i bought to get back online til i moved was useless
