Procrastinate until the eleventh hour and then do it all in a panicked deadline rush.

I live and die by my lists, too. I guess I need to make some new ones. *sigh*

Depends on what area are we talking about. If you're talking about work(that which I hate) then good luck.

As for art and projects that I do, I usually go look at other arts, or my favorit artist's works, then I'll get motivated to do some more of my own.

Dunno if this helps.

Inspiration is a good idea. Thanks.

I don't. And then I feel guilty.

Preach.

I dunno. Preaching the gospel of non-motivation probably isn't going to work out well for anybody.

If I ever got around to it, anyway.

Well, with HTCIA, as the deadline got closer, my work ethic got better (as well as my performance...going into COn-Mode....and it's great!)

Short lists, my damned timer (5- 10- 20- whatever-minutes is needed to do a task, and race teh timer for some things), stoopid rewards.

Right now, it's knowing that when I walk out tonight if it's foobared at the Farm it's going to hurt the ones I like and give the one I don't ammunition. So I hope that after the last medications update comes in, that my lists are as clean as they can get. I'd rather not get dumped on when I return.

If you mean how to self-motivate for things that only mean something to me....I have to think about how things will be when it's completed...and then baby-step it.

Deadlines help, but even those I'm lazy about. Blah.

I do it all the time in my academic career. I try to break large tasks down to subgoals that I can accomplish each day - that way, I always feel like I am making progress. I prioritize by deadline so in a given week, I may plan to complete three tasks that are due then and make progress on three tasks that are due the next week. I find it is also important to celebrate the completion of major tasks as a way of keeping my motivation strong.

Is this the kind of thing you were looking for?

Ohm
I'm often one to wait until a deadline forces me to act, and usually that works for me.

However, sometimes when I realize something really needs to get done, I just take a few minutes and meditate. It empties out the things that have been keeping me from tending to what I need to tend to, and then I can get what I need to get done done. It helps to be able to do it in a time where you'll be free from interruption (both the meditating and the task doing).

Re: Ohm
Hmmm. That's an interesting outlook. I'll think about that.

If it's worth doing, it's worth doing for my wife. 's how I graduated from college and also managed to avoid telling a few people how horrible they were at their jobs.

Without her, nuthin. I don't care about irrelevant bullshit enough to fake a good job on it without there being some bigger reason. (God, nuthin. My wife.)
