I'm obnoxious and disliked...

I've got "But, Mister Adams" running through my head and no copy of 1776. What's a Broadway queen to do (besides sing at full volume while driving home from work, that is)?

Hey, speaking of Broadway Queens:

What musical is the song "As the Days Go by" from (Not a day goes by/not a single day/you're not somewhere a part of my life/and you won't go away/as the days go by/I keep thinking/when will it end?/Where's the day I'll have started forgetting...), and what's the context for it?

Actually it's "Not A Day Goes By" by Sondheim (I love Bernadette Peters' version myself), from Merrily We Roll Along. In typical Sondheim fashion, it's a song on two levels - one is between a couple being married, the other is from the woman in love with the groom.

Thank you. I've never actually heard it performed "officially" - it was in the songbook for a vocal class I took.

Figures it was Sondheim, since even the amateur performance gets stuck in my head.

Oh, and P.S...Thanks to your post, I'm rewatching it.

I'm a big fan of Broadway actors reprising their roles on the screen (probably because I've never seen a Broadway show). This one, and Little Shop of Horrors (Ellen Greene as Audrey on the stage and screen) benefit greatly from that I think.
