OMFG

County Health Department has issued a state of emergency.

I just heard the nuclear plant sirens go off.

Why does everyone keep saying zombies? Does the infection make you act like a zombie or something? The health department isn't saying ANYTHING except stay indoors and blah blah blah.

I've also heard what I'm imagining are gunshots, though not close by.

I've been trying to find something on CNN or somewhere, but there is nothing on the news about it on the west coast. Is it in Maryland or NJ?

Maryland, and I'm shocked you're not seeing it. Maybe they still think it's local, but I'm hearing reports from friends in Boston *and* San Diego at this point of some weird stuff going down.

Also Seattle and San Francisco, if my f-list is to be believed.

man I am hearing NOTHING. That in itself is scary. The bullshit stuff is always all over the news (Paris Hilton) but the real stuff never is. DO keep us informed. Your posts have had me a little freaked out all day.

If there's something wrong, why has nothing at all turned up on the news? (There wasn't immediately anything on the news about the 2003 wildfires either. Got up, sky looked weird, went to work, THEN reports start coming in and everyone freaks out. What good is the instant-update potential of news websites if news channels don't take advantage of them?)

I have no idea. Maybe they think it's just a local thing? But I'm seeing stuff in Boston and San Diego, too, so I don't know what's going on.

I haven't seen anything in San Diego... just students freaking out over finals.

Ah... that makes much more sense.

We'll be sure to report if we see any strange activity here in Portland.

(Andrew- to lazy to relog-in under my own account.)

OK...I guess I was had too. Guess I'm not too into the blogging to have learned about that. At least now I can stop trying to find out if something really happened.
