Here there be Christmas, yar!

I guess the holiday season has officially kicked off with the first few parties. Friday night we took 3 friends up to DC for the annual party Q's minister and his partner throw, which was quite fun. Saturday Q had to work, and I spent the afternoon doing the bulk of the rest of the Christmas lights (a lot of lights for our little house). Some friends came over and we watched "Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Man's Chest," which Q and I hadn't seen when it was in theaters and we enjoyed a lot. Sunday I went to the college's staff Christmas party, but it was hardly worth the effort (I did meet the President and one of the VP's, though, so that was nice).

Put in my application today. We shall see what we shall see. It would be uber nice to have that much money, but as it is what I have will do us just fine for the near term (although my first paycheck can't get here fast enough - we're even delaying Christmas with our friends here until after the new year because everyone's broke).

Otherwise life is good. Yay good. Yay life. Yay me. :)

I feel your pain. When I first moved to San Diego I saw this BEAUTIFUL wrought iron tree at Illuminations, and each branch had a red glass votive candle holder at the end - wrapped in greens and all lit up, it was absolutely gorgeous. But it was expensive. So I waited. About 3 years. And finally got the floor model, slightly damaged, after Christmas, for like $40 instead of over $200. Score!

And where is my beautiful, one and only Christmas tree now? Sitting in a storage unit in San Diego. BLEH!

We're planning on getting a larger tree, but haven't gotten it yet - Target is out of them. Wah. :(

mine is just a little fake tree. nothing fantastic with some store bought and some home made ornaments. I have had it for over a decade about 16 years in fact. and i always set it up right after thanksgiving. but this year is the first year i was not able to. so while it is Chirstmasy and such i have nothing up and it is kinda depressing. though i did take a wrought iron plant stand and covered it in some Pine garlansds i found being tossed out (come to think of it the Iron Plant stand was thrown out by someone years ago too) and got some dollar tree stained glass votives and some cheap silk pionsettias and have it up as a "tree" on the porch. it is nice but it is not inside to make me think Holiday thoughts

i really really really want to get one of those Cones made from grape vines and make a nice silk poinsettia tree for this time of year.

also strangely i have been thinking of grabbing every five foot or bigger tree of artificialness i can and making a wall of fake pines in the yard to make more privacy!
