Oooookaaaay...

On Friday - my third day at my new job - I went to HR to do my paperwork and after finding out how much experience I have, the HR person basically recruits me for another open position. Right.

On Monday she calls and asks me if I've had a chance to look over the job description yet. Yeah.

Today a co-worker informs me that "another department" is "very impressed" and is actively looking for me to apply for a job, which I assume he means is the same one HR has been talking to me about.

So I look at the job description, and although I'm not entirely convinced I'm qualified for the job, I have an appointment on Friday to discuss the details.

::blink blink::

What just happened, exactly?

Not sure if I'd even really want it for several reasons, but the pay is a LOT better.

You might get a job that's a step up and better pay?

Quite a few steps up, actually - management. :D

You have been internally headhunted. Enjoy it.

I find it incredibly flattering - I've been here less than a week! The only contact I had with HR was filling out paperwork for heaven's sake. I guess I'm just that charming or something. ;)

On the plus side, I was told I was one of two viable candidates, so if I were to move up, there's a good chance they could get the other person in.

And they also said that this kind of stuff happens all the time, and that my boss would likely be very happy for me, if disappointed. My co-worker, who has been doing her and my jobs for the past 3 months, might kill me, but she'd congratulate me first, as she also moved up from other positions. :)

Wow. That's so annoying. :P

You're obviously not slacking enough. If you had been posting more, you would have just been able to settle into the easy low-pay job.

Evidently. Perhaps you can apply for my possibly-soon-to-be-vacant position. :D

Hmmm... Didn't plan on the extra-large font size there. Guess it's stuck on mondo-huge from the previous posts. :->

How much time do you have left in MD anyway? Do the job, take the experience (and increased salary history) AND RUN :)

Congrats!

That's about what I'm going with right now - I can survive a year or two in a field I'm used to, even if I don't love it, and the pay is that high. It's also a significant step up level-wise, which would give me a nice boost once I leave and move back to SD.
