My head hurts

Why is it the ones that should listen to the ones telling them they're doing something stupid don't, and the ones that shouldn't, do?

I guess there's a thinner line than I thought between modesty and egotism.

So were you the one who should have listened or the one trying to tell someone to listen?

Neither, but the rampant stupidity of others pisses me off sometimes.

You shouldn't watch the State of the Union address. That stuff'll rot your brain. ;)

So very, very true.

You've just delineated a classic piece of reality.

For me it goes like this: the people from whom I'd love to get a phone call at any time of the day or night are too polite to call at odd times and keep their conversations short to be considerate of my other work. The people I can't stand call me at all hours and will talk my ear off if I let them.

Should I stop calling then? :P

Heh - you are one of the ones who is too polite to call as often as I'd like :)

I went here from the S*P feed, so I think I know what you're talking about. (If I'm completely off, feel free to ignore.)

Glancing at your info, you seem to be a very active LJer for a long time. What do you think the best way would be to petition LJ support to change the way RSS feeds work so that they can be moderated somewhat? At the moment they are vulnerable not only to trolls, but also to advertising and other such spam.

Actually I wasn't thinking of what you're thinking, but now that I think about it, I think it applies. :D

Unfortunately, changes like that come slowly, mostly due to the fact that it requires programming a new feature, in effect. I can't say it wouldn't be worthwhile to put it out there as a suggestion, but I can't recall the community you post suggestions in.

I was unaware until jassalol told me that you can't moderate RSS feeds like you do communities. I'm kind of shocked, actually, as it doesn't seem like the setup (programming-wise) would be that much different, but then again I'm not a programmer. :)

Hmmm. I see it's listed as "no status," and since it's been there for almost a year, I think that means they see it as unimplementable. Sad. Oh well.
