You know, I swore this was going to be a drama-managed Pennsic, and yet I haven't even left yet and it's going full force. I'll spare you all the details, but suffice it to say that Land Grab has never, in my opinion, been more of a headache than this year, and I predict it's going to get even worse over the next few as we grow and some of our more stately neighbors shrink, yet still cling to what they feel they are entitled to. I pity Celeb taking over as Land Agent from me, but I daresay he does a far better job of it than I would, as I've blown my stack a couple of times over the phone with him in dealing with all this. Blah.
On top of that, there's more Long Yang Club drama going down as well (internationally, not our chapter). Seems a troublesome long time member continues to do hurtful, nasty things, and yet those in power refuse to act. The complacency bothers me, and is one of the reasons I considered running for VP (although now I think I'm better off not to have done so, as I can sit back and watch it all without having to be directly involved). I'm ever so thankful that the Gaylactic Network is in a state of relative calm right now, and all the change that's going on is in the right direction.
Plus I've got sooooooo much to get done at work before I leave, else the place fall to pieces while I'm gone (and I've no doubt that something will go kerfluffle and I'll catch holy hell about it when I return). I was at work until 7:30 tonight, which I don't think I've ever done in my whole 4 years there. Blah.
So, meanwhile I need to go up and pack. I don't think I'm going to get the sewing done I'd hoped, so it's going with me and I'll either hope to borrow a sewing machine on-site, or we'll have to have a stich-and-bitch around the campfire one night.
Did I mention I have a splitting headache? 'Cause I do.
