While they're at a vaccine, could there be a cure, too? Please?

Mutating, yes, but I think once they breakthrough and figure out one cure, the others shouldn't be far behind.

True dat - I think it's more about methodology than specifics.

Well, we can't even cure the common cold... I hold a lot more faith in a vaccine than an out-an-out cure.

I hope news of this doesn't prompt people to be less concerned about HIV and AIDS, with the mentality "Oh, there'll be a cure soon." Wasn't there a resurgence in the mid-90s that's thought to be correlated with the HIV "cocktail" due to this?

Yep. I know 5 kids who have seroconverted in the last year. There definitely needs to be some re-education.

mid-90s? Honey, bug chasers have been around since the beginning of the epidemic, although more attention was brought to them after inhibitors and cocktails were more commonplace and they felt safer "coming out" as chasers. Sadly, this news may very well encourage more to "keep at it." It's remarkably sad.

The concept of purposely infecting oneself with such a thing disturbs me greatly
I just can't fathom it

and this seroconverting is just fucking freaky

i mean damn
the only disease i ever even fleetingly thought about infecting myself with was ebola and that was so i could go to the republican national conventions with it.

Fuck
I would ask what is wrong with people but it is to obvious to me
Overpopulation breeds instability in many forms to correct the fault
sigh

One can hope this works
though considering the rate of progress with this i have a feeling that Nanites will be developed first

hopefully they can be used as a cure

Oh, this is so hopeful.

I'd say I'm crossing my fingers, but this hope is much stronger than that.
