Happy Monday?

IT'S RAINING!

w00t! Glee!

Plus, I just found out from samuraimeg that there's a Chick-Fil-A in Chula Vista - w00t! The only one I knew of anywhere close was in Irvine, but methinks I'm gonna be making a chicken run soon!

On top of all that my team is taking me out to lunch today at TGI Friday's for a belated birthday celebration. I can live with that. :)

A fine, fine, very fine Monday.

Rain as a reason to celebrate? I don't get it... It's been raining here for the past week, and I'd give my kidneys for a dry hour...

It rained in LA last night, too. Hard. I was loving it!!! I miss rain (southern CA doesn't have anything resembling seasons, you know), so those few precious days of it we have per year are wonderful!

We were at dinner and got to hear the rain pouring down onto the roof of the restaurant. It was so much fun.

I slept through the rainstorm yesterday morning and I regret it, so when I heard it lashing against the windows here at work I was just delighted. Driving's gonna be a bitch (southern CA drivers are completely clueless), but I don't care - I love it!

As Joe said, dry is normal and rain is very much the exception - we don't have weather or seasons as much as climate - so as east coast boys who got plenty of rain we appreciate it when it actually happens.

I always tease visitors if they happen to come during the "rainy season" (which most everywhere else in the world refers to as "winter") that they've managed to come during one of the two days a year we get rain. We actually get rain for several days in the fall and then again in April (and then we have this weird thing called "June gloom" where it gets a bit chilly and overcast, but no rain), but tourists don't know that.

To give you an idea, it's been 182 days since the last rainfall in San Diego. Water levels are a constant worry. But for 350-odd days of sunshine and 75° weather, I can live with that. As I like to say, the only difference between summer and winter in southern California is that in summer we wear shorts and t-shirts, and in winter we wear shorts and sweatshirts. ;)

You're soft, the lot of you... It's not nearly winter yet, and we're in overcoats, scarves and gloves...

Bah! the rainy season is Spring, Summer and Autumn in Massachusetts. Winter is the SNOW season. When the water is frozen.

Mind you, its usually restricted to just five months:Nov-March but we have gotten snow in June in recorded history. More frequently is the Oct and April surprise storms that do the most damage.
