Last couple of days

Monday night I got home from work and talked to Q earlier than usual, which is when he told me he'd gotten his computer back the previous week. After I talked to him I went to Mandarin Garden in Mira Mesa Mall for nolly's birthday. T'was quite fun, a small crowd but all friends. It was also nice to be reminded that I like that place - it's a better than average Americanized Chinese restaurant, and so close by. So happy birthday, Cathy! When I got back I ended up catching udman online and we had a rather interesting discussion on a few things that have happened with him and LYC lately. I think I informed him of things of which he was not previously aware, and he didn't care to hear them. He's still in denial, but it's understandable. (Bless his heart!)

Tuesday I discovered I'd been a little lax, but quickly caught up with what I'd let slip. I ended up going to Party City at lunchtime and Yardage Town after work to pick up some stuff for my costume for Conjecture, but I ain't tellin' what I got - you'll have to attend to see. :) When I got home Q called, I made dinner, worked on my costume, and watched some TV. Thankfully TiVo recorded the episode of DS9 where Jadzia dies, which I've never seen.

Today I got a rush project which took up almost the whole day, but we got it done (I skipped going out to lunch to make sure we did). Tonight is gaming - yay!

Tomorrow I'm going to the vendor fair on campus at lunchtime to see about getting a new shoulder bag. After work I may head directly to the hotel to help with the load-in for Conjecture, but if they're running late I'll head home first to change. After that it's the con for the whole weekend. For the record, I'm the Events Chair, which means I'm in charge of (in general) nighttime non-panel stuff. In this case it means the Meet The Guests Ice Cream Social on Friday night, getting someone (in this case Jim Hay) to run the Goth Regency Dance on Friday night, overseeing the Masquerade on Saturda night (which galtinel is in charge of and I'm emceeing), and running the Mad Science Fair on Sunday.

Oh, and I need more hugs. Chop chop!

I already gave you two hugs... are you saying that the 49 you had yesterday won't hold you until this weekend at the convention? Where I'm sure everyone will be fawning all over your gorgeous costume, even though you aren't going as Goth Belle ::pout:: ;-)

Mad Science Fair? I like this idea and would like to pick your brain about it in the near future. Are there any pictures from previous mad science fairs?

I'm not sure about pictures, but it's a real hoot. People bring in their own mad science experiments and the fun is them standing around and explaining it to people (kind of like poster presentations at conferences, except fake). We've had the Mary Shelley Memorial Petting Zoo (beanie babies re-sewn together in different, twisted ways), Mind Control Ice Cream (made with liquid nitrogen), and since last year's theme was time travel we had a few interesting contraptions (and the explanations as to why they'd work were hysterical). This year's theme is a horror/sci-fi fusion, so I'm excited to see what folks are going to come up with. It's become our signature event, and it's quite fun.
