Movies to not see and to see

Ugh. Don't go see Dawn of the Dead. I got nauseous and had to leave. :P

However, I will recommend Lost In Translation. Based on the bulk of it that I saw, it looked pretty good. :)

It was a combination of a heavy meal, not having a lot of experience with the new wave of horror films (28 Days Later, Texas Chainsaw Massacre, etc.) and therefore not expecting the rush of adrenaline from the minute the movie started (and they really did jump in with both feet - I was queasy by the time they actually got to the opening credits, with the music and the action and such), plus the gore and such. I realized when I had a chance to breathe that I wasn't feeling well and I didn't want to watch the film. Blech.

Went to see Dawn of the Dead last night. I love zombie flicks. Although, there were so many opportunities that we not used in the mall. I was kind of bothered by that. You know how many explosives you could've made out of all that stuff?! I would definitely survive a zombie invasion. :)

It wasn't clear if the zomibes were biting people just to bite them, or to eat them. If they were there to eat them, you would think that eventually they would starve. At the very least, eventually their flesh would decay enough that they wouldn't be mobile anymore. Plus fire hurt them, obviously - do up some molotov cocktails, and settle in to wait them out. They weren't that smart, after all, and you're right - being in a mall gave you lots of advantages.

Then again, it was just a movie. ;)

What?? I hate horror movies with too much gore, but this one was perfectly fine for me.

It wasn't the gore, it was the (very well done) emotionally rollercoaster. Couldn't stomach it at the time.

Just wanted to add for my own reference that we also sat too close to the screen. Normally I like sitting close enough that the screen encompasses my entire field of vision, but I think we were about 3 rows too close in this case. Bleargh.

And, truly, it's not like I was scared. It wasn't a scary movie. It was more of a shock-scary movie. The zombies did not scare me, nor did the blood and gore. T'was just an emotional roller coaster with lots of adreneline, too much to eat, and sitting too close.

OK, I'm finished justifying my wussiness now. :D
