I am so happy Annie Lennox won the Oscar for "Into The West." I thought it was a beautiful song to end the Lord of the Rings trilogy. The ending(s) made me cry as it was, but I thought the song was perfect.

Now that I listen to it again, all it does is remind me of both my father and the fact that Quincy is leaving soon, much sooner than I ever want him to. I can't help but feel sad now every time I hear it for both these reasons.

Lay down
Your sweet and weary head
The night is falling
You have come to journey's end
Sleep now
And dream of the ones who came before
They are calling
From across the distant shore

Why do you weep?
What are these tears upon your face?
Soon you will see
All of your fears will pass away
Safe in my arms
You're only sleeping

What can you see
On the horizon?
Why do the white gulls call?
Across the sea
A pale moon rises
The ships have come to carry you home

I pray and hope and wish and need that when she sings, "You and I will meet again/And you'll be here in my arms/Just sleeping," that it's true in both cases.
