But it is the last socially acceptable form of hate left.
cannot hate on gays, thats a hate crime
cannot hate on races, thats racism and frowned upon greatly
cannot hate on genders, that is sexist and must be stopped
cannot hate on religions, that is discriminatory and not very PC
in fact all of those are protected anymore. even though people still do that stuff
But fat people. Nope we are the last major punching bag. (subcultures are not major punching bags. they are more like the little ones hidden in corners that get little use but have avid fans of beating them)

after all hating on someone for race, gender, religion, or sexual orientation is Just Plain Rude
Hating on fat people will make us aware we are fat and make us either not come outside to spoil the view or get us to stop being lazy and starve ourselves to perfection or spend all our money and time on fad diets and pills. of course it is only motivating to tell fat people that they are indeed fat and ugly while they are trying to walk to exercise to motivate us. also things thrown at us from speeding vehicles be it words or cellphones or even a Wendy's frosty is all just to help us.

Right... Teasing fat people is good for them because it will want them to live more healthy lives.

Therefore, teasing gays makes them want to go straight. ...and teasing religious people helps them to understand diverse opinions. ...and teasing black people makes them want to be whiter, like Michael Jackson...

Oh... wait...

I NO RITE? The older I get, the less tolerant I get for mocking people over something they have no control over.

Warning: sarcasm
Oh, but I could totally choose not to be fat! All I have to do is:

1) reduce my caloric intake to lower than the World Health Organization's level for starvation, and
2) quit my job so I can exercise 12 hours per day.

Viola! Thinness!

(Offer void for those who might have thyroid, pituitary, or other hormonal issues. Not intended as weight-loss advice. Do not taunt Happy Fun Coyote.)

Re: Warning: sarcasm
There is soooooooooo much ignorance out there about weight. maybe that's it - as I get older I just get less tolerant of other people's willful stupidity. :)

Theaddy, you and some of my other fat friends have taught me more about self-worth and self-love than my all of my gay, black, female, TG, Jewish, and/or otherwise minority friends combined.

I know, you've had some major suckage lately, but I don't think it has anything to do with your weight. You'll get right at some point, even if it takes a while longer. :)

I'm just so fucking sick of this stupidity masquerading as humor, and people so blindly buying into it.

I also don't like humor where someone else isn't in on the joke - Sasha Baron Cohen, Candid Camera, guerrilla comedy, whatever, if the person being filmed doesn't know they're being filmed and doesn't know they're being set up and are put in an embarassing situation and everyone else is laughing at them, it makes me so amazingly uncomfortable. How can people laugh at that? How can people laugh at things people have no control over? That's fucking inhuman, and I'm fucking sick of it. AAAAAAAAAAAARGH.

I assume you have seen "Real Genius." You know the scene in the cafeteria, involving the phone call?

I was discussing my response to that (I have to fast-forward or leave the room) with artslave and she coined the term "embarrassment squick" to describe exactly what you're talking about. You and I are apparently more empathic than The Average Joe or something, I guess. (I'm also kind of rolling my eyes at myself over that one, but I trust you to know what I mean.)

Also, I've decided that "Do not taunt Happy Fun Coyote" is actually good advice in general, and not meaning myself in the noun.

Ucgh, you reminded me of that scene. The only saving grace of scenes like that is the revenge wreaked upon the jerks who did it in the first place (something missing from today's guerrilla comedy of the same vein - it's not made clear that the person doing so is the jerk for having done it in the first place, not the person who was the victim).

And yes, "embarrassment squick" is a good term for it. "Embarrassment comedy" in general is just soooooo fucking unappealing to me.
